As part of moving into Sims St, we installed multiple LIFE signage around our new home on the buildings and structures we own. Throughout this process, we have actively worked alongside our team of town planning consultants and have been working closely with the Melbourne City Council.
Following our consultants advice we sought the right planning permissions across the site, and for the water tower due to existing signage being permitted for many years, simply replaced it with the ‘Jesus hope for all’ and our Life church branding.
During this process, our water tower sign has been disputed by the Melbourne City Council, while we have followed due process with our consultant team throughout, unfortunately the council do not want to grant any approval.
We are confident in our position that the water tower structure has displayed signage for many years and in alignment with the land use it should continue to be used as formerly permitted.
This has resulted in us following the standard appeals process and we are taking this matter to VCAT for a fair hearing.
As part of this process Melbourne City Council must engage a public notice period and enable community members and neighboring businesses the chance to share their view.
As such, we're asking and inviting all our LIFE family to be able to support this current planning permit application within the next two weeks (applications close on Friday 19th July).
